Are We Searching For Aliens All Wrong?

Almost all of us grew up watching movies like Contact or Signs, and we still think that searching for aliens involves a lonely scientist sitting in a dark room with giant headphones, waiting for a 'beep' from stars like the aliens know we exist but are too lazy to meet or even talk to us. For a long time, that was basically the plan! Can you imagine one of the smartest people with several PhDs in their respective fields couldn't think of a 'logical' solution. But as we settle into 2026, a lot of astronomers are starting to ask a slightly embarrassing question: What if we've been looking for the wrong thing this entire time?(wait... It took them decades to realize this🤯?!) And today we are going to shed light on this 'search for extraterrestrial life', our mistakes and what we are doing to avoid repeating those same mistakes. So, let's dive in! Traditionally, we’ve focused on "Radio SETI." The idea was that an advanced civilization would ...

Artemis II: The Return Of Humans On Moon(And Your Name Is Invited)

Happy New Year Guysss!!! (inner me:- Nobody says that after 10 days stupid)

trying not to be awkward

So, we're officially in 2026, and Nasa is about to launch Artemis II-the mission that finally takes human back to the Moon's neighborhood for the first times in over 5 DECADES!!!
NASA is currently targeting February 6th, 2026 at 9:41 EST for the launch of Artemis mission.
As you know, I'm not a rocket scientist, but I've been reading the mission logs so that you don't have to. Here is the breakdown of what this mission is actually is, why we aren't "landing" just yet, and how you can technically "go" along the ride.

Artemis II

What is this thing, anyway?

Think of Artemis II as the ultimate "cosmic road test"

  •  The mission: 4 astronauts are going to climb into a capsule called Orion, sit on top of the world's most powerful rocket, the SLS, and blast off towards the Moon🌕.
  • The twist: The aren't actually landing. They are going to fly around the Moon, check out the 'dark side' that isn't actually dark, then let gravity 'slingshot' them back home to Earth.
  • The goal: NASA needs to make sure the life support, the heat shield, and the communication systems all work perfectly with humans on board. It's like testing the brakes on a new car before you take it on a cross-country road trip.

Meet the Crew

there are 4 people on this flight, and they are shattering records just by sitting in their seats. For the first time, a lunar mission includes a woman, a person of color, and a non-American

How to send your name to the Moon

This is the part I'm most excited about. NASA has a program called "Send Your Name With Artemis". Since they can't lift 8 billion of us on the ship, they do the next best thing: they take a digital list of names, put them on a tiny SD card, and tuck it inside the Orion spacecraft.

Your name will literally fly 230,000 miles away from Earth, loop around the Moon, and come back.

  • The Best Part: It’s totally free.

  • The Deadline: You have to sign up by January 21, 2026. That is less than two weeks away, so if you’re reading this, go do it right now!

  • The Souvenir: Once you sign up, you get a digital "Boarding Pass." It looks incredibly official and is basically the ultimate "weird flex" for your Instagram story.

Why does it matter for us

You might be thinking, "Cool, they’re flying around a big rock. Why does that help me?" Well, Artemis II is the bridge to everything else. If this works, Artemis III (the actual landing) happens next.

We’re talking about building a permanent base on the Moon, which leads to mining, new tech, and eventually, the first human footprint on Mars. We are living through the "Artemis Generation," and it starts with this 10-day trip.

My take

I’ve already submitted my name, my bicycle's name, and even my favourite star's name. There’s something strangely cool about knowing a tiny chip with your "ID" on it is going to see the far side of the Moon.

Are you going to sign up? If you could send one other thing to the Moon (besides your name), what would it be? Personally, I’d send a cow because there is no one to MOO on the MOOn.

Let’s talk in the comments! If you’ve already got your boarding pass, tell me what your "Seat Number" is!
